Care International Charity

2 days in London... What do you do when you know Mister Gary Barlow has some appointments in his agenda???

We arrived in London by bus, early in the morning. We thought we had enought time to check in in our hotel and refresh before going to the studios to where Mister Barlow would perform with his protegée Camilla Kerslake. We arrived there around 7.45 am, just a bit late to see the artists arrive, but since there were still a few fans outside, we thought we might still get lucky when they would leave.

We waited in the cold, but felt confident, since there were soo little people waiting at the gates. But unfortunately we did not get lucky this time... Camilla left the studios and Mister Barlow was nowhere to be found. We stuck around a bit to watch Camilla handle the fans and than decided we didn't mind having our picture taken with the lady and asked her too. She is sweet!

We had time 'off' 'till later that night, where we would get our second chance of spotting Mr. Barlow, so decided to do some shopping and eating!
Shopping for Take 1 and Take 2, although ended up not buying them, since online shopping is much cheaper! How bizarre!

We ended up having lunch somewhere south (after almost fainting when we spotted a nanny pushing a buggy with 2 beautiful kids in it, while we were asking a mailman for directions), in a very quite but nicely decorated winebar and toasted on our weekend in our favourite city. We felt we were already lucky to be there and having seen those 2 little rascals... 2 glasses of red later (or rose for Els) we left again and walked to the tube through a park. We still have no idea how we made it to the tube station, since all of the sudden who was in our eyefield? Marcella with her youngest. Good God, how she looked HOT HOT HOT! She wore a very nice hat and we watched her getting smaller at the horizon. We just couldn't leave before she was out of our sight...

Back to the centre of London to have a drink (no more wine - we both felt a bit hungover already * was it the wine, the gorgeous man or the fact we had our first glass on an empty stomach?) and do some more sightseeing.

Late afternoon, we went to the O2 Academy in Brixton, where we hoped to spot Mr. Barlow this time. We waited for him in the cold for hours and warmed ourselves a bit standing next to his cab... (Healthy to stand in the warm fuelgasses of your idol?! - although at this moment we didn't know yet this was his taxi)
We saw Milton and Lee leave through the backstage door before the event started and never saw them returning...

Finally Gary was on and luckily for us, we could listen to him through the guest entrance where the door was open and the security didn't mind us standing there. After Rule The World, Patience, Back For Good and Greatest Day (not in that order though), Gary left the stage and passed us... We tried to get his attention, but he didn't stop for us. We felt really bad, because we were only 4 waiting there for him. That didn't take long though, 2 minutes later, all the fans from inside stood outside to wait for him as well...
When he finally left, we missed our chance for a photo and a chat, since the fans were pushing and pulling eachother to get to him... I have no idea exactly what Els did, but I left the crowd immediately and stood behind his car. When he got in, I stood in front of the car, bend over and waved. I was the happiest little teenager to see he bent over in his seat to see who was in front of the car and waved back! I was a happy bugger, the car started and they raced off...

We went back to the hotel, feeling like we sat in a freezer all day, knackered but soo happy about what the day had brought us.

The next day we decided not to try and spot Robbie at the airport and went for breakfast on Kensington High Street instead. We were really enjoying our Chicken Caesar Wrap, when I noticed a familiar car at the traffic lights. Before the car passed, we were already sure who would be in the car and got excited that we would have a glance at Mister Donald for the split second when he would pass the bistro... He crossed the street, 'blinked' his car en when I wanted to see which street he would turn in, I bumped my head against the window... And I wonder why people stared at me at that moment?! The day had only just begun and we could already say we had seen another Thatter. The only 'bad' thing about seeing this man was that I couldn't finish my breakfast anymore!

We strolled around the streets of London, still couldn't believe how lucky we were. The day before I had seen a hat and a bag I wanted to buy, but didn't because I thought they were a bit expensive. Today I decided to buy them after all. Because Els didn't feel like going to the shop with me, she waited in a park, on 'our' bench (where we once fed a squirrel fries). When I returned, she was busy texting a friend about something, so I stood there waiting and told her very calmly: 'Janninneke is there'... Inside we both went mental, because this couldn't be happining... Janninneke was wearing grey trousers with a black stripe on the side, a dark jacket, a grey cap and had an umbrella in her left hand. She didn't take any notice of us, luckily, because I think my mouth was wide open with surprise...

Still shaking from the excitement, we decided to leave the park and come back later to relive this moment. That was a great idea: When we returned to 'our bench' a few hours later, we bumped in to Harietje (we were looking at the pavement and almost literally bumped into her), who was on her mobile - and was looking for Janninneke! Harietje was wearing red jeans and her wellknown but awful beige coat... Both of them were too busy looking for eachother to notice these two Belgian girls blushing and walking past... We had a quick look behind us and saw them walking off together...

After this encounter, we needed another drink! We went for another stroll, but this was just all too much... we were so happy about seeing our lads, we went to celebrate with dinner. We couldn't stop gazing outside the restaurant though, hoping that our luck would continue and someone would pass by the restaurant... hahaha, how pathetic do you think we looked?!

We said goodbye to our 4 friends in thought and took the nightbus back to Belgium...

How lucky can you be? Book a random trip to London, to find out that Gary and Robbie would be performing somewhere and out of the blue spot all your idols separately???

PS: other visited places than the obvious ones: Sarm West Studios, GMTV, BBC Center, Portobello Road, Kensington High Street, Young Street and some parks...

PICS to follow later

DJHD - Braunschweig - August 2009

Mister DJ in Braunschweig? Sounds good, especially since it's only a 5 hours drive from our house! Els, Sofie and Nathalie left early morning, to arrive around noon and to go have a look around at the Bora Beach Club and the Cube 11. Nothing much to see yet, but we were sure it would be a party tonight!

And Mister DJ did not dissapoint! The sound at the Beach Club was bloody horible, but luckily he only had to play there for a little while. We left early to go to Cube 11 and since there was almost no-one there, we got the VIP spot, next to the DJ booth! Mister DJ would only be 1 meter away from us!

The dj that was playing when we arrived was already good, so we really got in the mood for a looooooooooooooong night! Mister DJ prepared and had a look around the club from the booth... Still not sure what his white cellphone was recording, but we are pretty confident we are on it! The roof went off the club when he finally started his set and we have to be honest, sometimes Nathalie just couldn't keep her eyes of Mister DJ (and his hands...GOD!) and just watched him do his DJ-thing... Fascinated by all the buttons and lights!
Mister DJ obviously spotted her fascination at one point and greeted her with a big smile.

The 3 Belgian ladies let loose all night long and were so tired at the end that we felt notious... It was 5 am when we went to bed, but we went to bed as K3: toothpastesmiles, because of an amzing party night and a picture with Howard!

The next day was hard! Very hard! We didn't have much sleep, but had a fun drive home, with a stop for an ice cream in Mister DJ's town of Münster!

What a weekend!

London - Twice!

In July ofcourse we were in London, for The Circus Tour! We got lucky to meet Jason and have our picture with him, Els was also lucky enough to have her picture with Howard! It was the last leg of the tour, which is ofcourse always very sad. It was obvious on the very last show that not only the fans felt sad it was all over again... But we had enjoyed it and will think back with a big smile on our face!

Els left after the tour, Nathalie stayed in London for 2 more days and to her biggest surprise spotted Gary in his car! A perfect ending to a perfect holiday in London!

The second time The Socks went to London was only a few days ago: 20+21st of August. We left our home in the middle of the night, to take an early train to London. We arrived there around 8 am and sat down for breakfast at 8.30 am. Luckily we had just finished our meals, otherwise we would have choked for sure shen all of a sudden Mister Orange was standing next to us!

To make a long story short: Mister Orange showed his glorious self a couple of times to us that day, Mister Barlow was still not home from LA and I blame him our car got clamped! Mister Owen was probably too busy planning his marriage (?!) and didn't show himself and Mister Donald hid well as well...

So we were 2 very lucky fans to have spotted the hot Mister Orange and went home as 2 enthusiastic teenagers, giggling all the time!

We can't wait for our next visit and hope to be that lucky again!

Manchester June 2009

Vrijdag 26-06-09

My alarm clock was set at 7 am, so could get ready at ease. Since most of the time, I still need to pack half of my stuff just before I have to leave (and I leave at the most incredible hours), I get stressed a bit and forget a million things. So this time, I set the alarm early enough, so I could take my time. At 7 though, I didn’t feel like getting up yet, so kept snoozing ‘till about 7.45. Packed the rest of the bag and double checked it for essentials: toiletries, poncho, hotel directions (not of my own hotel though ;-) ), camera,… Than took a shower, washed hair, got dressed (it ‘s too bloody hot already and it’s not even 9 am yet!) and got in the car to my parent’s house. They would bring me to the airport. Read the paper there and was flabbergasted with all the deaths of the day before: Farrah Fawcet, Yasmine ( a Belgian female singer) and MJ?! How did it come to this???

At 10am we left… Too early for the flight actually, but I wanted to buy new shoes before I left, so we went to bring that mission to a succesfull end (although succesfull: my feet hurt already) and than hit the road for the airport. There was no-one at check in yet, so that went fast, which brings me to this very moment: typing the start of what I hope will be a entertaining report, while eating a slice of mmmpizza! See you in Manchester!

After a flight with some turbulence, I arrived at the airport safely, had a train into the centre immediately and went straight to the hotel, with a not so heavy bag. Took kind of a detour which basically means I was soaking wet by the time I got there, since it was really hot. Checked in, jumped into the shower and then made my way to the lads’ hotel, not too far away from mine. Didn’t think I’d be lucky, since it was 3pm already, but oh yes, there were still fans outside, so that meant there was still someone!! I had to be very patient, but got rewarded around 4.30, when I saw Howard, Mark and Jason getting in the vans to go to the stadium. That already made my weekend and knowing that I’d be seeing much more of them, made me smile even more.

As they had left, I had the time to do some shopping. And since my brand new shoes were killing my feet (blisters on little toes and on the heels), I decided to go look for some flipflops. I ended up buying something a bit more expensive than flipflops (since I thought cheap ones might give me blisters in between my toes and I didn’t want to wear cheap ones to the show: you can’t run in them properly): birckenstocks… Which gave me blisters as well, on top of my feet…

Bought some presents for my nieces, lost them (forgot them in a store and by the time I realized it was gone ofcourse) and bought them again. Back to the hotel, because I was hot again, took another refreshing shower and decided to go for dinner first and then go to the stadium. I ended up going to the stadium without dinner, since I didn’t feel like going for a meal in a pub where heaps of people were sitting drinking… Arrived at Old Trafford and got surprised: you could see the screens from the metro! So I stood there watching the show from there, enjoying myself and singing and dancing along with the people from the neighbourhood.
During Never Forget, I decided it was time to go and buy my white sweater, but there were no merchandise stalls outside the venue, like in Sunderland. So I asked someone if I could please go in and buy my sweater (and noses for the nieces), since I would be queuing the next day and didn’t want to be sat there with everything. He was as nice as to send one of his men with me, and I could buy it at ease. Thanks again for that Sir!

Went back to the centre and the lads’ hotel, hoping to get another glimpse when they would arrive. I wasn’t there for a long time, when they arrived. I didn’t see them arriving, since they took a backdoor and used wives and kids as a decoy… But I felt really honored to see Dawn, Emma, Grace, Emily and Lola. Since I was really tired by this time, I went back to the hotel, took another shower (oh yes, I needed it) and went to bed. It was 1am already!
Saturday 27-06-09

I got up around 8 am, got ready and took breakfast. By the time I was ready to start the day, Sofie sent me a message that she had landed and was on the train already. So I picked her up at the station and also picked up my ticket for Sunday’s show at a friend’s hotel.
We checked her in at the hotel as well, dropped the bags and back to the lads’ hotel. We waited and waited and waited and saw Elwood arrive. A bit later we saw Grace, Emily, Lola and Elwood playing on the hotel roof garden and got a glimpse of Howard when he was sat next to Grace at the fence. Most of the fans were stood right in front of the hotel door, so this little glimpse of Howard and seeing the kids looking at us from the fence, was a little special, since there were only a few fans who realized they were up there.
I saw Mike Stevens leave the hotel and got all my courage together and asked for a picture. He was so friendly to answer ‘Ofcourse I wouldn’t mind!’. Shame the picture didn’t come out as I had hoped. We both look a bit stupid on it!
Jason had already left early and around 2.45 the others followed: Mark held Elwood in his arms and got in a van, while Grace came on her own and Howard carried a shy (or tired) Lola (he had a shirt on with her name on the back) in. Gary got in the van with Howard and the girls. We got lucky again, since we had to meet Tracy, Sarah, Lisa and Jasmin at 3…

So we met up with the girls for lunch in a pub called The Old Monkey… Food wasn’t the best, but we had food! Around 4 we left for the stadium and stood next to the most left lights and camera stands. Not the best spots, but could have been worse. At 6 Gary Go was announced, the music started but he didn’t come on stage and the music stopped again… About 15 minutes later, we got informed by a message on the screens that Lady Gaga wouldn’t be performing and so that Gary Go would come on at 7.05. Boo Lady Gaga!

By the time Gary Go had finished the rain started to pour down on us! Lucky my new poncho is a great one and I stayed dry this time. Only the feet in the new sandals were soaking, but that was nothing! I got worried a bit that TT would cancel on us if the rain wouldn’t stop, but luckily the girl from production eased my mind by saying ‘I don’t see why they’d not come on’!

So finally at around 8.30 they came on and the party could begin all over again!!! And as expected, once again it was unbelievable, undescribable, amazing! Again we could tell they were enjoying themselves as much as we were and I loved the fact that there was much more interaction with the audience this time.People around me loved the show as well, and unbelievable but true: they liked my screaming (well that’s what they said, maybe they were just being polite! Hahaha).
After the show, it took us ages to get on the metro and our feet hurt so much we couldn’t walk properly. But we got to the hotel at last and took a long hot shower before we went to bed and took off to dreamland.

Sunday 28-06-09

Alarm clock was set for 8am, but we woke up at (!) 7.15… Finally got ready around 8 after all, went to have breakfast and straight to the stadium, to start queuing. It was boiling hot and we got sat behind let’s say about 60 people so far. We sat there, I took another little nap (it did me good) and around 3 people got more nervous… A lot of queuers that were behind us ended up before us, which made us upset and after a bit of pulling and a warning of security, at 3.45 we were let in… Unfortunately the scanner didn’t work properly and we got held up for a few precious minutes. It seemed we had to run really far, so there was not space at the front rows anymore, since the other gates had opened the same time…gggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I held a place at the B-stage, while Sofie ran to the other side to see if she could find us a better spot. She did, so I went there. We were about 5 or 6 rows from the front, but we knew we could do better once people started standing up. I ended up at the 3 row during The Script (who were really good, although I only knew 1 song) and got to 2nd during TT!By the time TT was on, my feet were killing me (as the days before), but as soon as they came on and the spectacle started again, I forgot all about my feet again and just danced, sang, screamed and enjoyed myself!

Two highlights: 1-Mike Stevens who spotted me (I think) and send me a kiddiewinks. 2-Jason who finally put his red and white pants down, after a Howard told him he couldn’t let 50 000 begging people down and Gary (or was it Mark)saying they wouldn’t play the song with him unless he stripped… So finally he gave in!
As per usual the songs were brilliant, the guys were enthusiastic, the crowd went wild.

After the show we were supposed to meet Tamara and Tine (with Alex and Nathalie) at the disabled area, but we found them at their seats… Exchanged our thoughts about the night and took the bus back to the centre.

Sofie and I were really hungry and grabbed a quick meal at McDonalds to take to our room. We had to eat our fries with ketchup since the very friendly lady at the counter told us more than once ‘We don’t do mayo!’… That would become the joke of the evening and the next day!
After a long shower, we went to bed for another quite short night…

Monday 29-06-09

Early morning again for a shower and breakfast. Today we would go to the lads’ hotel again, hoping to catch another glimpse! We arrived at the hotel around 10 am and there were only 5 other fans there. We hoped it would stay that way, but knew better ofcourse! After a while, more and more fans showed up…

The first paparazzi arrived shortly after us and asked if TT was still in. He wasn’t too happy with my answer ‘No they are gone, so you go as well!’… When I was sat on the border of the footpath, he felt the urge to park his car right in front of me, telling me he’d give me a picture when I told him to move because he was blocking my view and there were a lot of other free spaces. Guess he was annoyed by me!

We showed enough patience and once again we got rewarded for it: We saw Grace, Lola, Emily and Elwood playing on the roof (and Howard trying to hide behind a little wall whilst talking to Grace at the fence -- we were one of the few lucky ones who noticed them all on the roof) after Elwood arrived with his nanny (we guess). There was a filmcrew there and when they left, things started to move: James and Paul got everything ready to get the lads out…

Gary had left in a van – Howard made some time for the fans signing and having his picture taken. I didn’t want to stand in the crowd, so took a nice position next to the van, so I could see them through the window of the van getting in.
After this half of TT came out, we had seen the band leave: had a little conversation with Mr. Mike Stevens about our picture from the other day while he signed my ticket – he asked me to put the picture on FB anyway, since he likes to have them all. Then Jamie and Lee came out as well, also took the necessary pictures with them, asked their autographs on my ticket and had a nice chat with them as well. When we informed weather Milton was still here, Mike pointed out that he was arriving and said ‘Run!’ to us as in a joke… Milton was happy to sign and pose as well and said that Gary plays the ‘Love – Babe- Nobody Else-medley’ randomly. They had to leave and out came the dancers: Ciaran was our next victim: I really like his dancing and acting for some strange reason, so asked him to sign as well. He was rather surprised: ‘What? Me?’

By the time the dancers had left as well (they had to carry their own luggage and walk around the corner with it), it was time for the last TT members to leave: Emma got in the van first, the one I was stood next to ( I stood next to the van furthest away, not thinking they would get in this one) and left the door open for Mark (carrying Elwood) to get in… The paparazzi that annoyed me in the morning had struggled his way next to me and ignored me completely when I told him not to take any pictures of the kids, so I took revenge and held my hand in front of his lens! Asshole!

Jason kept us waiting even longer, but finally checked out as well. He made time for the fans as well, but from where I was stood (next to the van again, looking through the window (thanks Dutch fans for giving me that example), he didn’t look to amused by the pushing.. He signed a lot of things and made heaps of pics, but didn’t really smile a lot… I felt a bit bad at that moment, but at the same time so happy I was that fortunate to have seen them all again!

When they had all left, Sofie and I went for a lunch and a quick shop, before I had to go back to the hotel to get my bags and make my way to the airport. Sofie stayed to do some more shopping.
Took a taxi, said a last goodbye to this wonderful town and got on a train to the airport, where the check in clerk said he recognized me from last time, although I was pretty sure my bags were checked in by a lady last time… And than at the gate, he called me Nath… Strange!!!

Had a nice sleep on the way back and landed in Brussels after a calm flight… I’m back home and I don’t particularly like it… Fast forward to London please!!!

The Circus in Sunderland 5-6 June 2009

On Wednesday evening, I (Nathalie) welcomed the Germans and had an early night, since we had to leave at 1am, to get the ferry at Dunkerque at 4am.
It was hard waking up after a short night, but at least it was for a good cause! So at 12.45 Sofie joined us and we set off. Sleepy or not, I am a good sleeper, so before I realized it, we checked in at the Ferry. Slept a bit more at the ferry, got off and made our way further to Newcastle. Around 10 am we stopped to fuel up (again I slept the whole way), and I took the wheel. Around noon we arrived at the hotel near the airport, checked in and put our luggage in the rooms.

Yvonne needed a rest, the rest of us were wide awake and went to the stadium, to see if anything is going on already. We had a sneak preview on the balloon over the B-stage, had a walk around the stadium, had a look at where the box-office was and where we had to queue. Soon enough Yvonne called that she was awake, Anna went to pick her up and Sofie and I stayed near the stadium. We met some of the Dutchies and they told us where we could see the Circus Trucks. Thanks girls. We went to a pub, where we waited for the Germans to come back to have tea together.

After our tea, we went back to the stadium to see there were a lot more fans now, and the VIP’s for the dress rehearsals were waiting in line already to go inside. No one but them could get in, security wouldn’t let anyone in unless they were on the guestlist and you could prove it with an ID. After long waiting around (and speculating about the 2 German vans and the 4 black Audi’s with same plates), we saw Emma and Dawn arriving, so we knew it couldn’t be much longer…

At 9pm, all of a sudden we could see balloons going up in the sky, and soon we got the first notes of Greatest Day. We could hear it very well outside the stadium and enjoyed it like this. Everyone was going wild…

So it was clear the opener was Greatest Day, than they sang Hello and Could it be magic. I didn’t want to know more, so put my fingers in my ears. Sofie asked me if she could sign the next songtitle, and ofcourse I guessed correctly, so knew the 4th songs as well: Pray. By this time, we were walking back to the car (to go get some supplies for the next day), me still with my fingers in my ears. Anna did pull them out though and screamed the title in my ear. So now I knew the 5th song as well. I did not want to know that much, so I really felt I had to leave as soon as possible! And luckily we did. To Tesco’s for our lunch the next day and some last minute shopping for the queing.

By the time we got back to the stadium, the show was finished and we hoped to see TT leave. We saw the first Audi leave. We waited for more action, but were unlucky. Decided to go straight to the hotel and bed, since we had a long day ahead of us.
The next day, Friday this is, Sofie and I got up early and took the metro the The Stadium of Light. We got there at 8 am, and could queue right behind the Dutchies, who had been there since 6am. It was raining already and unfortunately we got soaked the whole morning…

At 1 pm the stress started to build. We had our tickets in hand (which was a struggle itself), but we didn’t have a clue about where we had to run once the first gates would open. It got pretty obvious that the security at Sunderland didn’t have a clue about what was about to happen: they struggled keeping us calm. We didn’t give them a proper chance to check our bags and were all very inpatient when they tried to put on our GA bracelets. We all ran for the third door in the food court and since Sofie and I got held back by security and a lot of people that queued behind us got in line at the second gates before us, we asked the Dutchies if we could stand behind them and luckily they agreed. Two more hours of anxious waiting, when at 3.30 the security took their place at these gates…

At 4pm finally we were let into the stadium and it was chaos! You had to run down small stairs into the pitch. I was pulling Sofie down and was just hoping we wouldn’t fall. At the end of the stairs, they tried to guide us to the right, since there was a large block were they didn’t want us to cause any accidents. We ignored him, because we didn’t want to run any further than necessary. Our mission was front row and that was all we could think about. When we got to the stage, we were standing right behind the Dutchies, but Sofie (luckily she was still thinking straight) saw that at the other side of the stage, the front row was almost empty. So I ran there and held a spot for her. WE WERE FRONT ROW!!!

The Dutchies were just across from us, and you could tell that we all were very excited about being front row. It was 4.30 now and the show would start at 9pm.
I realized that despite the T-shirt, 2 sweaters, rainjacket and poncho I was wearing, I was soaking wet to my skin. My scarf lead all the water to my clothes… Not my best dress up!!! But luckily the sun was shining now and we could warm up.
By the time Gary Go came onstage, we forgot about the rain, the stress and panic and realized that finally it was the night that we had been looking forward to for the last 8 months…

Gary Go came on first, than James Morrisson and then FINALLY we saw the first signs of the Take That show!

The technicians were preparing the stage, all dressed up in the circus theme. The first artists came out and handed out balloons. More and more of them came out and than the moment was there: TAKE THAT WAS ON STAGE!!
They open with Greatest Day and let the balloons free. Then it’s Hello, where they use the colourful ladders and do a kind of dance on them. Could it be magic is followed by Pray (full dance routine!), A Million love Songs and Back For Good, where the crowd at the B-stage get soaked.

They make their way back to the mainstage on the back of an amazing elephant during The Garden. They disappear under the stage and come back in a different costume, to sing Shine,Patience, Never Forget. (Not in this order, but I can’t remember the correct order anymore). All in white, Mark wearing a simple but beautiful hat, awful shoes though. They take their instruments and bring the most beautiful versions of Up All Night, Wooden Boat and How did it come to this. Take That and their instruments… They should do it like this more often: Gary on the piano, Howard on the drums, Mark and Jason on guitar (and maybe bass).

Time for Gary to have a bit of solo time, which he says is a risk that the others take: ‘leaving me alone with a piano is dangerous: I won’t be able to stop singing!’. And so he does a little medley of Love ain’t here anymore, Babe and Nobody Else. It is amazing and he ends this feast with The Circus. Not one of my favourite songs, but I couldn’t stop smiling throughout this version.

Now it’s time to get the rest back on stage: The all appear with funny trousers and a little suitcase. Howard starts singing What is Love, and I panic: Don’t ruin this show! Stop this song! And stop putting clown make-up on your faces!!!
Luckily after a few seconds I realize that what they are doing with this songs is brilliant! I like this version and I like the clown dress up more than I had thought. That might have to do with what follows, because it is the best choice : TAKE THAT AND PARTY MEDLEY, where they make fun of the songs, the dance routines that go along with them and themselves. I can’t stop laughing! The visit the B-stage again and go there on monocycles. Well, Howard an Jay do it nicely, Mark needs some help and Gary goes there on a baby bike. It looks ridiculous, but it is hilarious at the same time.

Relight my Fire is a song I’d rather not hear again, but they sing it, so I go along with it. Last year the lapdances, now the whips… and they say they’re not sexist pigs?! ;-)

The encores are Hold up a Light, where they come go back to the B-stage to say goodbye here and they end with Rule the World. An amazing end to a brilliant show!
After the show we make a wrong decision: we go have a look at the merchandise…. I spent way too much money on a hoodie (wish I had it earlier, because it is a real warm one), a shirt, a bag and ofcourse, the tour program.

When we got back to our room, we take a hot shower and go straight to bed. We are dead excited about the show, but still, so tired that we fall fast asleep!
On Saturday, Sofie and I went to Tesco’s first, to buy all the newspapers and then took the metro again to Sunderland. We arrived around 11am and we are surprised about the people that are already there… Probably because today the sun is shining! Soon after us, the Dutchies show up again as well, and they have tripled! It is a nice queing day today, with the sun in our faces. We get our bracelets already, but that is about the only positive thing about the new rules today!
They have obviously learned their lesson the day before, because today they say the 1st gate opens first, than ours and than the third. Once inside, I manage to get to the second gates first and all of us are so excited about making it after the stress of these new rules, we can’t wait any longer! We are sure of front row again and we deserve it!

Unfortunately, security didn’t share our thoughts. To make a long story short: we had to negotiate about going to the toilet and about opening the doors. They eventually (after 3 changes of plans) told us the first gate would open and let a group of people in and than they would do the same at our gate. So we could all still be front row. By 4pm we all stressed again and joked about the two young security boys that had to keep us away from the door… at 4.30 they finally opened the door, but did it the way plan A was like: let everyone in and then open the second gates. Also let everyone run around the stadium first before letting them on the pitch… This means that people who didn’t queue at all got front row and we had to fight for our spot! I got aggressive and started pounding the doors. When they finally let us in, all the security were yelling that we couldn’t run… I think I never verbally abused so many people in my life before!! Not for a second did I consider not running and not fighting my way in to Front row!

I lost everyone, but just went for it and found a spot at the B-stage. I was happy I could see Sofie coming down the stairs, so she could join me. I was trembling all over and was still really angry. The ladies next to us didn’t really queue, but didn’t understand why I thought the organization was outrageous… Ah well, at least we had made it to the front row again! (The Germans choose the wrong side of the B-stage and got soaked, since the wind blew it their way;-) )
And we soon learned all the Dutchies had made it front row as well, some at the B-stage, some at the mainstage.
Gary made up for all the anger by walking down the little stairs and coming to say Hello to us... I hope I didn't hurt his finger...

Again, an amazing show from Take That and again my mouth dropped to the floor. Today there were little changes though: the wind was too strong, so they did not put any balloons to the hotair one and the little man didn’t go up in it either. For the rest, the show was amazing again and I enjoyed every minute of it…
After the show, I fell into that little black whole immediately: I have to wait for another 20 days before I see them again… But the excitement took over again when I had a look at my pictures. Some really nice ones…

The next day we had to go back home. We left at 8 am and were able to take a ferry at 2pm, while we were booked for the 4pm one. I slept all the way, which made it easy for me, but I was happy to be home, go for dinner with my parents and be able to tell them everything…

I can’t wait for the next show I’ll see in Manchester…

Take That - Wetten Dass Munich

Months ago, we took the risk to book flights and a hotel for Munich... Took the risk, since it was all just a rumour. But luckily a few weeks ago, Howard's DJ set in Pacha was confirmed and a day later, Take That's appearance in the German show Wetten Dass as well. They were 2 happy little kids!

Only 2 days before we would leave for Munich, word got round about dates and hours of TT in the neighbourhood of Cologne and Frankfurt... During these performances at radiostations, we were already in Munich, exploring...

At the Olympiahalle, we got someone to tell them were TT would arrive. They tried to figure out which 5-star hotel they would be staying at, without much luck...

On Friday, we went to the Olympiahalle again, to have another look and than to the airport. That's were we saw Anna and Ivy again, the girls we met in Amsterdam. Steffi and her boyfriend Alex were there as well. Together we waited for hours, hoping to see Take That arrive, without any luck... The question rose if maybe they flew privatly again? Which would have been a shame, since there were only 10 fans at the airport...

News from Berlin had arrived that Take That had taken a flight and had already arrived in Munich, so we gave up our wait and went back to searching their hotel... Not a simple assignment this time... We were all concentrating on the wrong hotel, when all of the sudden, Steffi called Nathalie saying that TT had arrived at the Wetten Dass studios, for rehearsals.
Stupid ZDF security send us ( again we were only 12 fans there) way and made sure we couldn't even see a glimpse of the lads. The only thins we were able to see, were the vans leaving. Nathalie could recognize Howard in the van though.

Only one car tried to follow the van and promised to let us know which hotel they would end up at. They didn't let us know, but no worries, we found out anyway (Thank you Steffi for waking us up!!) We were already in bed, but woke up immediately and went straight to the hotelbar. On the way they met Steffi and Alex...
We arrived just in time to see Jason leave the bar. A few minutes later, Gary left as well. This already made our day!

Saturday we went back to the hotel really early, to find out that they were not fully booked that night... All of us booked a room and sat down in the lobby.
We had seen the schedule for the day, but could never read it well, only thing we could figure out is that the whole day, they would be doing interviews.
Alex was our spy for the weekend and he had a chat with some random Brit and with Mark. That way we got confirmation that they would spend another night at the hotel.

We saw them all passing a few times (never enough though), during that day and had a great chat with Jason's Bunny! She was really funny!
When they finally left to go to the show, we were all happy, since finally we could take a shower and rest a bit. We all met up again in the bar.
Nathalie was there the first, with two old friends and took a reserved table. The waiter told them they could stay untill 10pm, than they had to give up the table again. Nathalie had a feeling it was TT's table and so told everyone to be in the bar at 10pm the latest...

After the show, Gary and James came in to see if their table was free. They left immediately though. Than we had to leave the table. When Nathalie took the lift to go up to her room, she saw James and told him their table was free. He mumbled something about not needing a table, but only a few minutes later, they arrived again and sat down... at our table!!!!

Gary, Jason and Mark sat in the bar, with James and the Universal people. When Steffi went outside to smoke, Mark spoke to her and told them Howard would start DJing at 1 and that he unfortunately could not go to Pacha, since he had an early flight.

At 12.30 Steffi, Alex, the blond girl, Julia, Els and Nathalie left in a cab for Pacha. They met up again with Micha an Thomas and got in all 8 (only 4 were onthe guestlist)! What a great party!!! DJ Howard Donald is amazing, and Jason is an amazingly sexy animal!! You could tell Howard was really concentrated, but at the same time was really enjoying it... and so were we!

Jason first appeared in the VIP room, but it seemed that he couldn't really do his thing, since a girl was always putting her arms around him. He didn't seem to like it that much, neither did James! hahaha.

Jason than joined Howard in the DJ booth and danced away there. The view was amazing and the Belgian and German partypeople wished it would never end. Jason left after about one hour, while Howard finished his set. His last mix was the Greatest Day mix... EXCELLENT!!

A quick sprint to the taxi's and than just in time back at the hotel to see Howard arrive again. Nathalie was the only one standing outside when Howard got out of the cab, but frooze completely and didn't have the guts to ask him for a pic... Shame...

Finally we could go to bed for a real short night... At 7 we got up again, went downstairs to check out and at that moment saw Mark leaving the hotel. He made our day by saying hello to us.

We than said goodbye to our new German friends and left for the airport. Hoping to still see Jason there since he was on the 11.20 flight. But no such luck, since we had a flight at 11 and were boarding by the time Jason only left the hotel.

It was an amzing 4 days filled with Take That, laughter, drinks and waiting. We didn't sleep a lot, but it was all worth it!!!

Thank you all, for making this one of the greates weekends of all!

Mooi Weer De Leeuw - Almere

Early Saturday morning, after a short night, the horrors of an alarm clock... But the horror was for a good cause: Take That's appearance in a Dutch show.

So Sofie, Tamara and Nathalie left at 6.15 am to pick up Lindsy and Els. The five of them started the party in the car, who was baptised to 'Toffetantemobiel' by Lindsy... They arrived at Schiphol at 8.30 am to find out that they did not miss a thing yet!
The waiting had started and some random driver made it interesting immediately: he kept up a sign for 'Mike Stevens'... They ofcourse kept their eye on this man and followed him to his passengers, only to see tha backside of his passenger and think it was not Take That's musical director. (while posting the blog, Nathalie has figured out that it must have been Mike Stevens anyway, since the driver has been seen by her on a picture taken hours later of Mark Owen arriving and this driver walking right next to him. And she saw Mike leaving the hotel on Sunday morning as well).

More and more fans appeared at gate 1 and finally got rewarded for their patience. James came out, so all the cameras came out as well! Gary was the first to appear and the first to dissapear, followed by Howard. Jason bumped into a wall of fans as did Mark. Both of them took some more time to 'meet and greet'...

They were escorted to their 'A-team like van' and drove off. Sofie, Els en Nathalie ran to go pay the parking and faught with the machine, while Lindsy and Tamara already made their way to the car. Nathalie jumped behind the wheel and hurried to the studios. They saw the two vans (the second one for the management and I guess Liz the hair and make-up artist) but weren't able to catch up in time and missed their entrance.

At the studios, a big tent was placed with a TV inside, so the fans outside could follow the recordings. What a nice gesture, especially since it was raining!
Paul had a laugh with the two Dutch fanclubs, with the fans outside and then got on with the rest of the show.

By the time Take That was on, the four crazy Belgians left in the cold (Lindsy had one a ticket) were waiting in the car... Why in the car you ask? Well, you better just don't ask!
Arrived in Amsterdam and waited around hoping to see them again. Unfortunately James told all the fans there was no use in waiting, Take That would not go anywhere anymore... So they went of for dinner ourselves and after passing by the hotel once more, went to their own 5 star hotel. They pampered themselves with long hot showers, candy and some jenever and had an early night, since the horror of the alarm clock would wake them again very early!

At 6 am, they got up. Els took a shower, while the other 3 (Lindsy went back to Belgium after the show) tried to figure out how that bloody 'teletekst' works in the Netherlands. Don't ask them how they did it, but they managed to find the flights to Zurich... Sofie was still in the shower, but was told to hurry up. Nathalie and Tamara than had a quick wash in the bathroom and changed, since they all thought they were running late to see Take That leave the hotel.

So at 6.45 they were at the hotel, the same time 2 German fans showed up. A few minutes later 2 others followed as well and even more later some Dutch fans as well. Finally at 8.15 the vans arrived and the nerves could grow bigger. James came out, so did Liz and Jonathan, their manager.

Mark was the first one to come out in the sunshine and still seemed slightly drunk. Than there was Gary, who took the time to go on a picture with a Dutch fan. Right after him was Howard, who dissapeared in the van quite fast... He had sunglasses on and gave the impression he had been at Marks party. Jason was the last to show off his beautiful self. He was proud of his Amsterdam sweater, was all smiley and listened very carefully to Judith, the lovely German girl who asked him to look her way for the picture she was about to take of him and ................ NATHALIE!!
Nathalies first ever picture with a member of the almighty Take That!

(Thank you James, for allowing ;-) )

Than they were off to face probably a huge bunch of fans at Schiphol again.

For the Belgians, it had been good and crazy enough. They went back to the hotel, to have breakfast in style. And Nathalie had her shower (which she needed badly after being sick (literally) of relief). Check out, a last sigh and then in the car, for a very karaokestyle drive home...

What a weekend, what an adventure!!!

Mooi Weer De Leeuw - next Saturday!

Preparations are taking place: arranging a meeting place, warm clothes, a picknick, and a full tank...
BECAUSE:

Take That will be in a show in The Netherlands this Saturday: Mooi Weer De Leeuw. Tickets are not available anymore, which is a shame! This means it is another show where only a few fans will be in the studio! There were 10 tickets that were given away, of which 3 were given to random members of the Dutch Forum. The other tickets were for the mods and Paris Contest Winners. So only 10 fans will be able to see Take That... Luckily Belgium will be represented as well, since 1 Belgian fan won a ticket through the forum!

We are also lucky enough to be able to watch the show from outside the studios, because they will be putting screens outside.

This time, Nathalie and Els will not be going on an adventure alone: Sofie and Tamara will be joining them!
We will be leaving early and getting home really late...
Keep your fingers crossed that we will be able to get a glimpse of our favourite band!!!

Paul de Leeuw announced Take That would be coming in his blog, only he said 'Take That will be coming to the show again, only you never know for sure untill they were here'...

Here's a copy of his blog (in Dutch):Blog van vrijdag 27 februari

vrijdag, 15:53 OP NAAR DE 80/DEELZOVEEL

Verder alles prima in orde. Ga vanavond wel uit eten maar weet dat een heerlijk mootje vis prima zal smaken...

Tot laterrrrr!!!

En morgen wordt het weer een hele leuke MWDL , denk ik!

Brit Awards London

So a day before the Brits, we took the first Eurostar to London. This time we had more than one mission... Ofcourse the main mission was to see the lads.

We arrived in London, dropped our bags at the hotel and went straight to Earl's Court. We thought we had a good chance to spot them after the soundcheck... We had a look around and immediately found the Artist Entrance... Unfortunately we soon learned that Take That had been the first to do the soundcheck and that they had left already. This means we had missed them with a few minutes! How frustrating!

So we went on with our second secret mission, which we completed and were exstatic about. We enjoyed the rest of the day and met up with another fan later that day. After dinner we went back to the Artist Entrance and just sat in the neighbourhood of it waiting around... We ended up seeing The Edge from U2!

The day of the event itself, we arrived at 'our' artist entrance early morning and just sat there. Heaps of security passed us by and said hello, none of them even bothered to ask us what we were doing. Untill after about 2 hours... Apparently the people of production had their cameras on us the whole time and so we got kicked of the terrain... This was after 2 hours!!!

We knew we would not be able to see them today, unless at the red carpet, but we decided not to queu for this... Luckily, because they didn't do the carpet!
We went on with secret mission 3 and did get heaps of info... Which made it possible for us to succeed in one part. The easiest part! For the second part, we would like some new tips (you know who you are)!!!!

We went back to Earl's Court late afternoon and saw people were already screaming for God knows who was arriving... As Belgians, we had no clue who was passing the Red Carpet... We were just sure of one thing: it wasn't Take That!!!

We found out about Universal's afterparty, but were too tired to go so skipped it and went to bed.

Day three of our adventure was just strolling about in London and getting confused over busses! At one point we wanted to take a bus direction South Bank and ended up on the other side of town... We got stuck in the middle of traffic hour and ended up having to hurry to catch our train back...

So we did not see Take That, but it was still one succesfull adventure!
On to the next one!

Ps: We really hope 'you know who you are' gets to find this blog, since we gave you a wrong address... let us know if you do!

The Crazy Socks ... The name

So you wonder how we got to this name???
Well, in Paris Els saw how Nathalie was wearing these colourfull socks, so she showed hers off too.... We even took a picture of them!

In Cologne, in the middle of the lobby, we showed off our crazy colourfull socks again and yes... Another picture! This is when we decided that we'd be wearing our crazy socks on every Take That adventure! (Not too difficult for Nathalie, since she does not own normal socks...)

So when we decided to create this blog, we decided that this should be our name!
Look for The Crazy Socks on Myspace!!!
